Gardai were today investigating after a 75-year-old woman died after being hit by a car on Christmas Eve.
The woman was struck by the car as she was walking on the Bunree Road in Ballina, Co Mayo, at 9.15am. A garda spokesman said she was taken to Castlebar General Hospital where she later died.
