Gardaí in Co Cavan are investigating a car crash yesterday morning that left one man dead and another in a critical condition in hospital.
The car hit a tree at Tullyvin, Cootehill at around 9.15am yesterday.
The driver died at the scene. The passenger in the car was seriously injured and was taken to Cavan General Hospital.
The death is the 257 thon the State's roads so far this year, according to Garda statistics. Some 245 people died in the same period in 2005.
