A man is receiving hospital treatment in Co Clare tonight following an assault in Ennis this afternoon.
The man (43) received serious facial injuries when he was attacked by a group in the Market area of the town.
A Garda spokesman said a gang of at least three men got out of a black Toyota Avensis car and assaulted the man shortly before 3pm. Having beaten the man they got back into the car and fled the scene.
The injured man was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Ennis where he is tonight being treated for his injuries.
