Gardaí have begun an investigation after a man's body was discovered in a Co Meath river earlier today.

Gardaí have begun an investigation after a man's body was discovered in a Co Meath river earlier today.

The body was found in a river near the Dunshaughlin to Dunsany road at Clowanstown, Dunshaughlin, Co Meath at 2.30pm.

Gardaí said it is believed to be that of a 56 year old man reported missing on Thursday.

The scene has been sealed off pending a technical examination of the area by Garda crime scene examiners and the State Pathologist's office has been notified.
