An Aer Lingus plane from New York to Dublin carrying 221 passengers was searched by Gardai this morning on its arrival at Dublin airport after a note was found in the toilet of the plane claiming a bomb was on board.

A crew member found a paper towel in one of the plane's toilets with the note on it.

Nothing was found during the garda search. All passengers and crew were then interviewed by Gardai.

The plane has now been handed back to the Dublin Airport Authority and the incident remains under investigation.
