Gardaí in Co Galway have arrested a man in connection with a siege at a house in Gort earlier this month.

Gardaí in Co Galway have arrested a man in connection with a siege at a house in Gort earlier this month.

The man, who is in his late 30s, was arrested shortly before noon and is being detained at Ennis Garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

A statement from the Garda press office said the man is being interviewed about discharging a firearm.

He can be held for a maximum of 72 hours.

A man was injured after gardaí fired shots, including shots from a non-lethal 'beanbag' weapon following a 21-hour siege at the house on October 8th.
