GARDAÍ HAVE identified the murder victim whose body was found with stab wounds near Palmerstown in west Dublin last week.

The victim is a security guard in his 30s from Cabra but gardaí said they could not release his name last night until all members of his family were informed.

His body was found on Mill Lane on Friday afternoon. The identification of the body came just hours after Supt John Quirke of Ballyfermot Garda station had appealed for the public's help.

The body had sustained multiple stab wounds. Gardaí have not said if the man died on Mill Lane or whether his body was later dumped there. The victim was only wearing a T-shirt and did not appear to have a jacket.
