A 26 year old Dublin woman who had been helping gardai with their inquiries into the death of her father committed suicide at the weekend, gardai have confirmed.

Ms Katherine Dwyer had gone voluntarily to Ronanstown Garda station to make a statement following the fatal stabbing of her father, Mr Edward Dwyer (57) at their home at Harelawn Green, Clondalkin, in early December.

She had been an outpatient at St Loman's psychiatric hospital, according to gardai, and hanged herself at the family home at the weekend.
