Gardaí in Co Mayo are involved in an “ongoing” operation following reports of gunfire yesterday.
Searches were carried out today in the Swinford area.
It is understood a man sustained minor injuries when a shotgun was discharged close to a halting site yesterday.
Members of the armed regional support unit and the Garda helicopter were involved in today's search.
There have been no arrests, a Garda spokesman said.
A road between the Claremorris road and the Knock road in Ballyhaunis was closed during the operation.
