Gardaí investigating the murder of a man near the Meath/Dublin border on Sunday afternoon are trying to contact a family in Lithuania for further information.

Detectives believe the man was from Lithuania, although they have not yet formally identified the deceased.

Details of the post-mortem, carried out last night, are not being released for "operational reasons". The dead man had severe head and arm injuries. It is not clear how long he had been dead before he was found.

The body of the man, who was in his early thirties, was dumped in undergrowth on a back road at Walterstown between Dunboyne and Leixlip.
