Gardaí in Waterford have arrested a man in connection with the death of another man in the city yesterday.

The man, believed to have been in his late 20s, was found at a house at Lower Grange in Waterford at about 4.20pm with serious injuries.

He was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where he died shortly after 5pm.

A man in his early 30s was arrested late last night, a Garda statement said.

He is being detained at Waterford Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The Garda Technical Bureau have arrived on site and were due to begin a full examination of the scene at first light, the Garda press office said.

A postmortem examination on the remains of the dead man will take place today at 1pm.
