Gardaí in Malahide are appealing for witnesses to a traffic incident in Portmarnock last night that left a 52-year-old man in a serious condition in hospital.

The man was out walking on Carrickhill Road shortly after 10.30pm when he was struck by a blue Hyundai Accent car.

He was taken to Beaumont hospital with serious head injuries and was placed in ICU where his condition is described as serious but stable.

The 21-year-old female driver of the car was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown suffering from minor injuries.
