Gardaí have issued an appeal to the public for information following the death of a male cyclist in an apparent hit-and-run in Co Kerry yesterday morning.

Gardaí believe Paudie O'Leary (42) of Leamyglissane, Gneeveguilla, whose body was found near Rathmore, Co Kerry, was struck by a vehicle on the road between Killarney and Gneeveguilla sometime between 8am and 10am.

Mr O'Leary was cycling in the townland of Scrahanfadda - close to the village of Gneeveguilla - when he was hit.

An appeal has been issued for witnesses or to any one who may have travelled the Killarney to Gneeveguilla road or who can assist gardaí with their investigation to contact Kanturk Garda station on 029 20680, the Garda confidential telephone line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
