Gardai in Dublin are appealing for witnesses to a burglary at Dawson Jewellers on Dawson street in the city yesterday morning.

A man, posing as a bicycle courier, smashed the front window of the shop with a hammer. He then took a quantity of jewellery and cycled down Dawson Street, onto Schoolhouse Lane via Molesworth Street.

He is described as wearing a black sleeved top, three-quarter length black pants, white runners, tan coloured baseball cap, black gloves and a black smog or dust face mask that covered his mouth. He was of athletic build with fair hair.

Gardai are particularly interested in speaking to a male motorcyclist, believed to be a courier, who may have witnessed the incident.
