Gardaí in Dublin are appealing for witnesses to an incident earlier this week in which a man drowned in the River Liffey.

Gardaí in Dublin are appealing for witnesses to an incident earlier this week in which a man drowned in the River Liffey.

The 27-year-old drowned near Aston Quay on December 29th at about 2am.

Gardaí in Pearse Street are seeking witnesses, particularly those who may have been standing at the taxi rank on Aston Quay.

Some people tried to help the man, but their efforts were unsuccessful, and he was later taken from the river by the Dublin Fire Brigade.

Witnesses are asked to contact gardaí at Pearse Street on 01-6669000.
