Gardaí at Ronanstown are appealing for information following a serious assault at Wheatfield Avenue in the early hours of this morning.
At about 1am a 25-year-old man sustained serious head injuries during an altercation. He was taken by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital.
A man in his 30s was arrested a short time later and is currently detained at Ronanstown Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The scene is preserved and a technical and forensic examination is ongoing.
Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses and in particular to anybody in the vicinity of Wheatfield Avenue between 12.45am and 1.15am this morning to contact them at Ronanstown garda station on 01-6667700 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
