Mountjoy Garda Station in Dublin has reopened after briefly being quarantined when a man left a suspect package containing white powder at the building.

Gardaí sealed off the station and an Army bomb disposal unit was called in to examine the package.

The station was placed under quarantine and nobody was allowed in or out until the all clear was given shortly before 7pm.

A Garda spokesman said that a member of the public had brought the substance to the station after it had been delivered to his home.
