Sgt Christopher McCarthy and Sgt John Dennehy, from Finglas Garda station, gave evidence in a 1992 case in which Mr Derek Fairbrother was paid Pounds 375,000 in settlement of a claim against the State for assault.

Both deny they committed any breach of discipline.
