The trial of a Garda sergeant charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice was adjourned to October at Dundalk Circuit Court yesterday.

Mr James Cunningham, New Houses, Abbeylands, Duleek, Co Meath, is alleged to have committed the offence at Dublin Road, Dundalk, on September 13th, 1997.

Mr Sean Moylan SC sought the adjournment, as he said he was involved in a trial in Dublin on the date set aside for the case. Judge Raymond Groarke remanded the accused on continuing bail.
