The widow and daughter of a garda who died following a traffic accident on December 7th 1995 are to be paid £290,000 in settlement of an action arising from the incident, Mr Justice Quirke heard in the High Court yesterday.

Mrs Margaret Rawle, of Longfield, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford, had sued Mr Peter Blundell, of Sheerevagh, Ballinameen, Elphin, Co Roscommon, arising out of the accident at Corroy, Ballinameen.
