A garda who was arrested and detained at Henry Street, Limerick, Garda station for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act was released without charge yesterday morning.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and the garda has been suspended from duty for 72 hours. The arrest followed allegations of common assault and false imprisonment made by a woman in a complaint to gardai on January 1st.
