Garda injured in search attempt

A garda who visited a housed with a search warrant to look for stolen property was grabbed by the throat and had his shoulder injured, Judge Catherine Murphy was told in Dublin District Court, Peter Meade (40), of Bayside Walk, Bayside, Dublin, was convicted after pleading not guilty to assaulting Garda Desmond Dixon on March 17th, 1995. The Probation Act was applied after the court heard that Meade was a respectable man with no previous convictions whose wife served on the local neighbourhood watch committee.
