A member of An Garda Siochana has been arrested in Co Cork in connection with an alleged sexual offence.
He is being questioned at Bantry Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, a Garda spokesman confirmed.
The spokesman declined to reveal details of the officer's age, rank, where he is stationed or the nature of the alleged offence.
