A garda was in custody in Limerick last night after being suspended from duty following his arrest as a result of complaints made by a woman. The garda, in his 40s, was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and questioned by detectives about an alleged common assault and imprisonment.
The allegations arose from an incident on January 1st. It was understood the woman received a hand injury and was treated in hospital.
