Gardaí investigating the murder of John Berney at Newcastle, County Dublin last Thursday have appealed to the public for information.

They are especially interested in information about the movements of a Blue Ford Focus Zetec car, registration number 06-D-63122, which was used in murder.

The car was stolen from Dublin Airport sometime between January 9th - January 15th.

Gardaí are anxious to ascertain where this car was kept in the period between when it was stolen and when the murder occurred.

A spokesman said the car may also have been fitted with false registration plates during this period.

Berney was shot at a house in Castlelyon Drive, Newcastle, at around 10.30pm and shot the man in an upstairs bedroom.
