Detectives are today hunting an armed gang who robbed a safe from a hotel in Co Carlow.

Detectives are today hunting an armed gang who robbed a safe from a hotel in Co Carlow.

Two staff members and a resident at the Lord Bagenal Hotel in the village of Leighlinbridge were locked in to a store room as the raiders took a sum of money.

Four masked men armed, with a shotgun and a knife, carried out the raid at around 5.30am.

Gardaí in Carlow are seeking a grey Ford Focus, registration number 08 CW 2478, that was stolen by the raiders as they made their escape.

No one was injured in the incident.
