BRISTOL - An "armed and dangerous" four man gang was being hunted by police last night after the killing of a community centre caretaker, gunned down as he and two friends tried to stop a street mugging.

As the two friends recovered police named the dead man as 37 year old Evon Berry, a father of three teenage girls. Jamaican born Mr Berry, a popular figure nicknamed "Bangy", was caretaker at the Malcolm X Centre in the heart of Bristol's multi racial St Paul's area, a short distance from the scene of the fatal shooting.
