BHUBANESWAR - Mahatma Gandhi's great grandson wants to take the purported ashes of India's apostle of non violence on a national pilgrimage before immersing them in the Ganges, but he will have to go to the Supreme Court first.

The high court of the eastern state of Orissa said on Sunday that the wooden urn which Mr Tushar Arun Gandhi says contains his great grandfather's ashes has to be taken directly to the Ganges and not around the country. The state's chief minister also says the box is a hoax.
