Six city-centre streets in Galway will be closed to vehicular traffic from early next month because of a long-awaited pedestrianisation plan. Traffic will be diverted away from the main thoroughfare between Eyre Square and Quay Street, taking in Abbeygate Street, Shop Street and Mainguard Street, from 11 a.m. to midnight each day.
