GARDAI in Galway are seeking a man in his early 20s, following the alleged rape at knife-point of a third-level woman student near the city's railway station early yesterday morning.

The student had accompanied a friend to Ceannt Station to catch a special morning train at 2.45 a.m. when she was accosted near the station.

Her attacker, described as slim and about 5 ft 9 ins, forced her to the rear of parked buses nearby where she was allegedly raped.

Gardai at Mill Street station have appealed to the public to contact them if they noticed anything suspicious late on Tuesday night or early yesterday near the station.
