A planned three day work stoppage at University College Hospital, Galway, which was due to start today, has been deferred following a Labour Court recommendation.

According to Mr Micheal Kilcoyne, industrial officer of SIPTU, the recommendation, which says there should not be any loss of jobs, either temporary or permanent, will be put to a ballot of the membership today with a recommendation from the union for acceptance.
