Galway fire victim named

The elderly man who died during a fire at his house in Galway city yesterday has been named.

The elderly man who died during a fire at his house in Galway city yesterday has been named.

He was Micheal O’Flatharta (76) originally from Lettermore in Connemara.

The incident happened about 3am yesterday when a fire broke out his home in Clareview Park in Ballybane.

Two units of Galway Fire Services fought the fire.

Mr O’Flatharta was pronounced dead at the scene.
