Gale warning cancels Swift sailings

All sailings by the Irish Ferries Swift service between Dublin and Holyhead today have been cancelled due to gale warnings.

Intending passengers will be transferred to cruise ferry sailings. All other ferry sailings are proceeding as scheduled.

Met Éireann is forecasting a storm over this weekend with exceptionally low pressure causing high tides leading to alerts issued to a number of Dublin coastal regions.

Residents of flood-prone areas along the seafront in Sandymount, Ringsend and Clontarf have been warned and issued with sand bags.

Motorists are also being warned to expect difficult driving conditions.
