KANO - The Libyan leader, Col Muammar Gadafy, yesterday arrived to an enthusiastic welcome in Kano, northern Nigeria, where he was to lead Muslim prayers and confer with military ruler, Gen Sani Abacha.
Witnesses said the Libyan leader arrived from neighbouring Niger and was met at the airport by Gen Abacha, senior officials and local people. Thousands lined the streets to the airport and Muslim youths carried banners with pictures of the two leaders.
