THE folk band the Fureys lost musical instruments worth £150,000 when their van was stolen on a tour of England, it was learned today. Scotland Yard said it had failed to trace the instruments and equipment.

They were taken when the van was stolen from outside the Formula One hotel in Barking, east London, earlier this year.

The van was recovered later in the day, and police believe the instruments were transferred into a similar van at nearby Victoria Docks. The instruments, some specially made for the band, included accordions, guitars, a bodhran and a banjo.
