THE FUNERAL of retired farmer Finbar Fahy (78), who was killed in his home last week, is to take place in south Galway today.

The funeral Mass will take place at noon in St Teresa’s Church, Labane, the same day as a memorial Mass for Mr Fahy’s late wife, Ciss (Celia), was due to be held.

Mr Fahy’s body was removed to the church last night from a funeral home in Labane. He will be buried after today’s service in Labane Cemetery where his wife Ciss is buried.

The chief celebrant will be the parish priest and his close friend, Fr Richie Higgins.

Mr Fahy used to visit his wife’s grave almost every day and was a popular figure around Labane and Ardrahan. His three sons, Gerry, Aidan and Noel, live nearby with their families.

Mr Fahy was found dead in his home at Tullira, Labane, last Wednesday morning.

His grandson, Gearóid Fahy, Carrownamona, Ardrahan, has been charged with his murder.
