The funeral took place yesterday of one of Northern Ireland's best-known regional journalists, Mr Oliver Mallon (71), who died in his native Dungannon after a long illness. Mr Mallon had been group editor of Observer Newspapers for more that 40 years, overseeing the development and publication of seven titles. The Group was founded by his father, Mr Patrick Mallon, in the early 1930s.
