HUNDREDS of mourners attended the funeral at the weekend of Mrs Brigid McCole who died of liver failure last week after being infected with hepatitis C through contaminated anti D blood product.

Mourners lined the roadway from Loughagher village, Co Donegal, to St Patrick's Chapel, Meenaweal, three miles away. Father Michael Sweeney led the Mass while Daniel O'Donnell joined the church choir to sing In The Garden. The Donegal Gaeltacht singer, Ms Geraldine Walsh, sang special hymns.

The President, Mrs Robinson, was represented by heralde de camp and the Government by Minister of State, Mr Bernard Durkan.

The burial took place at Magheragallon cemetery, Gweedore. Chief mourners were Mrs McCole's husband, Brian, and her 12 children.
