Funeral of Bray firefighter to be held

The funeral of one of the two part-time firefighters killed in Bray, Co Wicklow last week will be held today.

The funeral of one of the two part-time firefighters killed in Bray, Co Wicklow last week will be held today.

Brian Murray (46), a father of 15, died with colleague Mark O'Shaughnessy (25) while fighting a fire at a disused factory last Wednesday.

More than 1,500 people gathered for his removal yesterday. Politicians from all the main parties stood as Mr Murray's widow, Mary; his children and grandchildren filed into the church.

Mr Murray will be buried in Springfield Cemetery.

Mr O'Shaughnessy was buried yesterday at the same cemetery. Thousands of people attended his funeral at the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bray.
