Funding of almost €960,000 was today awarded to 89 radio projects across Ireland.

The grants were provided by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland under the Sound and Vision scheme and are for programmes dealing with themes such as Irish, culture and heritage.

The funds will support productions in a wide range of areas such as documentaries, drama, children’s programming and entertainment.

The Sound and Vision scheme is a project designed to help fund new television and radio programmes.

The BCI said 14 of the 89 projects funded are for Irish and bi-lingual projects.

BCI chief executive, Michael O’Keeffe said the scheme continues to be “a great success” through the funding of high quality programmes.
