The Gay Detective, written and directed by Gerry Stembridge, closes tonight, having set unbeatable loo per cent attendance records at the Project Arts Centre. The previous record was held by Joseph O'Connor whose play Red Roses and Petrol had 95 per cent attendance.

There is talk of bringing The Gay Detective back but fixing a date could prove difficult as the star of the show, Peter Hanley, has now signed up with the BBC for a second series of Ballykissangel which will be filmed in Co Wicklow during the summer.
