Thomas Reilly (52), of Crumlin Road, Belfast, who admitted attempting to murder a friend after consuming a cocktail of drink and drugs, was given a four year suspended jail term yesterday. Belfast Crown Court heard how Reilly felt he had lost face when his friend of 20 years told him to sit downs after cutting in on him as he danced with a woman.

Reilly tossed a coin and when it came up heads so he decided to kill his friend. His friend's daughter intervened and the man was only slightly wounded.
