French finance minister Jean-Francois Cope said today there were indications that unemployment was continuing to fall.

He noted the jobless rate had been falling for more than a year. The jobless rate of the euro zone's second biggest economy fell to 9 per cent, its lowest in four years, in June.

It has declined steadily since hitting a five-year high of 10.2 per cent in May 2005.
