MOSCOW - Four military personnel reached the North Pole on foot in the first, French expedition to complete the trek without back up, the team announced yesterday.

The four, based in Chamonix in the French Alps, each pulled 130 kilogramme (286 pounds) sleighs during the 1,000 kilometre, 55 day expedition.
