Lille - A French gendarme brutally attacked by German hooligans during the World Cup has finally left hospital and been moved to a military rehabilitation centre, his doctors said yesterday.

Daniel Nivel (43), was beaten into a coma on June 21st in the northern town of Lens where Germany was playing Yugoslavia in the World Cup. He regained consciousness last week, defying earlier fears that he would never recover.
