Derry city councillors last night agreed to confer the freedom of the city on SDLP leader Mr John Hume.
It is the first time the title has been conferred by the council. The motion was proposed by a former SDLP mayor, Councillor John Kerr, and seconded by Councillor Annie Courtney, also a former SDLP mayor.
