Madrid - France was the world's top tourist destination for 1997 according to figures released here yesterday by the World Tourism Organisation. With 66.8 million visitors, it was followed by the US with 49 million and Spain with 43.4 million. Ireland did not figure in the top 10, according to the WTO.
