Fourteen children were taken to hospital today after the minibus they were travelling in was involved in a crash in Co Kerry today.

The children, all thought to be under the age of 13, escaped with either shock or minor injuries, the Garda said.

The crash happened on a straight stretch of road between Castleisland and Abbeyfeale.

The minibus and a car travelling in the same direction were involved in the collision. The driver of the car was injured when his vehicle overturned. His injuries are not thought to be serious.
