Four arrested in connection with the State's largest ever cocaine seizure were remanded in custody when they appeared at Clonakilty District Court in Cork today.

English nationals Joseph Daly (40), Perry Wharrie (47), Martin Wanden (44) and Gerard Hagan (23) have already been charged in connection with the discovery of over €100 million worth of cocaine found floating in 61 bales in Dunlough Bay, Mizen Head on July 2nd.

Mr Wharrie, who is charged with possession of cocaine and possessing the drug for sale or supply, was remanded in custody to Cork Prison to appear again at Cloverhill District Court in Dublin on July 31st.

Mr Daly from Carrisbrooke Avenue, Bexley, Kent; Mr Wanden of no fixed address; and Mr Hagan from Hollowcroft, Liverpool were remanded in custody to Cork Prison to also appear at Cloverhill District Court on that date.

About 40 gardaí, including armed members, were outside the courthouse for the short hearing.
