Four people have died following separate road traffic collisions in Co Tipperary and Co Mayo today.

In Co Tipperary a woman and two children were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with another vehicle on the main Dublin to Cork road.

The driver of the other car has been taken to Clonmel General Hospital suffering from serious injuries.

The collision happened at 2.50pm at Longford Pass (Tipperary) on the N8. Gardaí have said the N8 is closed and diversions are in place.

In Co Mayo a woman was killed near the village of Balla when the car she was a passenger in was involved in a two-vehicle collision on the Claremorris to Castlebar road.

A man and a boy also involved in the accident were rushed to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar.
